What You Will Do

Join the DARHT Experiments and Radiographic Science (J-4) Group at Los Alamos National Laboratory and contribute to a multidisciplinary team that fields large-scale, integrated hydrodynamic weapons experiments at the Dual-Axis Radiographic Hydrodynamic Test Facility (DARHT)-the world's premier hydrotesting facility. As part of our radiography team, you will help design, field, analyze, and document the radiographic aspects of hydrodynamic tests that are essential to the Laboratory's national security mission. This work involves use of MeV radiography, advanced optics, electronics, and state-of-the-art radiographic diagnostics, as well as close collaboration with scientists, engineers, mathematicians, technicians, IT professionals, designers, and external partners from diverse backgrounds. You will also assist in the operation of gamma-ray camera (GRC) systems and in the execution of complex hydrodynamic experiments. J Division fosters a culture rooted in mutual trust, interdependent teaming, and shared success. We value innovation, creative problem-solving, and operational excellence. Our mission is to deliver high-quality, technically rigorous data to our partners, making this role an exciting opportunity for individuals who are passionate about impactful science and dedicated to national service. What You Need

Minimum Job Requirements: Physical and Operational Tasks Ability to perform hands-on operational tasks, including lifting and moving heavy objects; entering confined spaces such as experimental vessels; preparing and shipping hardware; managing and organizing experimental components; coordinating work with the machine shop; supporting logistics for experiment setup and teardown; and maintaining accurate inventories of parts, tools, and materials. Basic Mechanical Skills Proficiency with common mechanical tools and practices, including the use of calipers, micrometers, torque wrenches, Allen/hex keys, and standard hand tools. Ability to measure, fit, assemble, and adjust mechanical components with precision, and to follow mechanical drawings and tolerances during fabrication or setup Familiarity with Basic Electronic Instrumentation and Computer Data Acquisition Demonstrated experience using computerized data acquisition or control systems, including associated software. For example, using a computer-based system to acquire data from a camera. Experience with troubleshooting or debugging electronics, software, or mechanical issues. Team Dynamics Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with a diverse team of technicians, engineers, and scientists. Strong communication skills at all organizational levels, along with the ingenuity, creativity, and independence needed to support multiple concurrent tasks.
