**Job Description****Harborview Medical Center - Kidney Clinic has** an outstanding opportunity for a **Patient Services Specialist 3.**

**WORK SCHEDULE*** Full-time (100% FTE)* Day Shift* Mondays- Fridays**POSITION HIGHLIGHTS*** Conveniently located near public transportation* Make a difference for the patients and employees we serve* Opportunity to provide career growth**PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES*** Maintain/develop an efficient and effective workflow for the referral process to address both internal and external referrals, as well as communicating with referring providers* Interface directly with the FACT team and clinic staff to rapidly address any outstanding denials or appeals* Document the steps in the process* Develop processes for specific subspecialty referrals with physicians* Oversee referral process and ensure compliance with process* Implement and maintain a database for tracking referrals using EPIC* Process referrals according to the defined workflow* Ensure referrals have had clinical triage with RNs and MDs/APPs, to identify urgency status of referral and to inform appropriate scheduling.* Ensure demographic data is collected and necessary authorizations are obtained* Send internal referrals to financial services counselors for pre-authorization of services* Ensure that the referring provider is sent all documentation pertaining to the referral* Serve as the primary contact for new patients being appointed to the Men’s Health Center as well as referring providers* Contact referring providers to inform them of the referral process and when their patients can expect to receive a response regarding their referrals.* Maintain the database of referrals in EPIC* Confirm that any managed plan insurance plans (ex: Kaiser) have a PCP referral on file* Share status updates on denials/appeals with the FACT team in a timely manner**REQUIREMENTS*** High School graduation or equivalent AND two years Patient Services Specialist 2 experience* Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license, certification, and/or registration**ABOUT HARBORVIEW MEDICAL CENTER**As the region's only Level I Trauma and verified burn center, Harborview Medical Center is a comprehensive healthcare facility owned by King County and operated by UW Medicine.
