Shift: 5x8 Days
Pay: $2,278.80/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts)
Job Summary The Inpatient Rehabilitation Speech-Language Pathologist evaluates, diagnoses, and treats patients with speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders following illness, injury, or surgery. This role focuses on restoring communication and swallowing function to improve independence and quality of life during recovery.
Key Responsibilities
Perform comprehensive assessments of speech, language, cognition, and swallowing for patients in an inpatient rehab setting.
Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and rehabilitation goals.
Provide therapy for aphasia, dysarthria, cognitive-communication deficits, and dysphagia.
Educate patients and families on therapy techniques, compensatory strategies, and home programs.
Collaborate with physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and dietitians to ensure coordinated care.
Document evaluations, treatment sessions, and progress notes accurately in the electronic health record (EHR).
Maintain compliance with facility policies, professional standards, and state/federal regulations.
Qualifications
Education:
Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
Licensure/Certification:
Current state SLP license – Required; Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) – Preferred; Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
Experience:
Minimum 1 year of experience in inpatient rehab or acute care preferred; clinical fellowship year (CFY) may be considered.
Skills & Competencies
Strong knowledge of neurogenic communication disorders and swallowing rehabilitation.
Ability to perform and interpret instrumental swallowing assessments (e.g., FEES, VFSS) preferred.
Excellent communication and patient education skills.
Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, and assist patients during therapy sessions.
Manual dexterity for therapy tools and documentation.
