The Accounting Manager plays a pivotal role in leading the accounting team to deliver precise financial reporting while maintaining regulatory compliance and promoting operational efficiency. This position involves coaching and mentoring staff, overseeing daily accounting operations, and driving strategic initiatives through process improvements and collaboration across departments. The manager is responsible for ensuring a timely month-end close, preparing comprehensive reports for both internal and external stakeholders, including call reports, while also maintaining stringent internal controls to protect our assets.
Key responsibilities include evaluating accounting processes, identifying opportunities for streamlining operations, and keeping the Director of Accounting and Finance informed on financial matters. As a leader, this role sets departmental objectives, manages team performance, and ensures that exceptional and efficient service is provided to all team members, ultimately supporting the mission of enhancing our members' financial experiences.
To excel as the Accounting Manager,, candidates must possess a robust set of skills and competencies that drive effective financial management. A deep understanding of accounting principles, GAAP, and regulatory requirements, particularly regarding regulatory standards, is essential. Proficiency in financial reporting tools and software, including AI technology for process evaluation and improvement, will be crucial for creating impactful reports for stakeholders. Minimum 7-10 years experience in financial analysis, treasury, reporting and budgeting.
- Bachelor of Science in Accounting or Finance required.
- CPA license and financial services industry preferred.
- Thorough knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
- Knowledge of Financial Institution's general ledger and budgeting software.
- Ability to effectively handle confidential information and materials.
- Ability to identify problems, analyze relevant data, think critically and strategically, generate alternatives, and select solutions to problems.
- Ability to independently and proactively research issues, suggest improvements and formulate new analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple competing priorities simultaneously, and drive projects to completion.
