Langham Logistics . The Inventory Control Supervisor contributes to Langham's goals of exceptional customer service, quality, process improvement, and profitability by ensuring Inventory Associates conduct accurate inventory counts using the Langham WMS and SAP count programs; identifying and tracking errors relating to movement of inventory in the facility, conducting physical cycle counts of stored goods, and moving material out of the system to the Distribution Center. The supervisor plans for adequate labor to meet productivity and quality goals on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis, maximizing efficiency using RF guns and cross training. The Inventory Control Supervisor ensures that all work is done according to safety and security guidelines, with particular attention to guidelines regarding hazardous materials and those mandated by the Department of Homeland Security.
Key Outcomes Expected
Provide input to the Warehouse Manager regarding process improvement for greater efficiency and productivity.
Effectively perform basic supervisory responsibilities of coaching, training, disciplining and evaluating performance.
Monitor Inventory Associates’ productivity and make system adjustments as needed.
Approve time sheets according to required schedule and monitor all time off by Associates.
Influence employees to work together as a team and ensure a team environment in the warehouse.
Respond to and resolve customer complaints, ensuring that the appropriate Langham personnel are aware of escalating problems.
Assign daily tasks as appropriate based on individual team member skills (i.e. picking, driving, banding, QC, cycle counts, etc.).
Ensure work is performed by the team according to all Langham policies and procedures. Assist employees with work process problems.
Delegate the search for missing parts due to incorrect placement in bins.
Cross train employees in the department.
Establish and promote positive communication within Langham internal departments to increase collaboration and reduce inefficiencies. Ensure a team environment in the warehouse. Respond to e-mails and voice mails in a timely manner.
Critical Skills and Knowledge
Able to read, interpret, and use blueprints, parts specifications, forms and other visual instructions in order to perform required work.
Demonstrates understanding and can use of gauges and calipers.
Demonstrates effective verbal communication skills.
Proactive in anticipating and alerting Manager to problems with projects or processes.
High detail orientation and accuracy.
Takes initiative and needs little supervision.
Able to prioritize, organize tasks and time. Performs responsibilities efficiently and timely.
Can adjust to changing workloads and hours.
Works well in a team environment and as part of a team.
Demonstrates proficiency in basic mathematics.
Demonstrates basic computer skills or has the capacity to learn basic computer skills.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED required.
Minimum 3 years in a comparable position relating to inventory control.
Previous SAP (software) preferred.
Must be able to pass forklift certification training.
Work Environment and Physical Demands Work is performed in a warehouse environment subject to temperature variances. It is expected that a supervisor spends at least 75% of their time on the warehouse floor. Must be able to operate a variety of equipment: stand up forklift, sit down forklift, and order picker. Physical movements including bending, stooping, and lifting up to 75 pounds as part of daily work routine. Dexterity needed for working with calibration equipment. Will be working on concrete in a warehouse environment (subject to heat and cold). Must be able to operate computer equipment.
