Beacon Health System is hiring a full‑time day‑shift Temporary Registered Nurse for our Center for Behavioral Medicine at Elkhart General Hospital in Elkhart, IN.

Full‑time / FTE 0.9 (36 hrs/wk)
Shift:
Day – 7:00am to 7:30pm, Preferred scheduling, every 3rd weekend
Compensation:
Temporary RN $75.00/hr flat rate; 12‑week commitment

What You’ll Do As a Center for Behavioral Medicine Nurse you will report to the Manager of Patient Care Services and deliver professional nursing services. You will assess patient needs, implement individualized care plans, and collaborate with clinical and ancillary staff to provide high‑quality care.
Responsibilities
Safely and effectively perform high‑risk, high‑frequency technical procedures in accordance with legal and professional standards.
Prioritize patient care activities based on acuity, resource availability, patient preferences, and departmental needs.
Identify and respond to physical or emotional health risks, initiating appropriate corrective or preventive actions.
Maintain accountability for personal and delegated decisions using evidence‑based practices, protocols, and organizational values.
Seek supervision or resources when needed to ensure safe and effective care; collaborate to resolve complex issues.
Develop, revise, and evaluate individualized care plans that reflect patient goals, preferences, and needs across physical, emotional, social, and spiritual domains.
Ensure continuity of care through appropriate interventions, modifying plans based on effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes within established guidelines.
Communicate effectively with team members to achieve positive outcomes and satisfaction.
Delegate tasks appropriately based on patient needs, staff roles, and competencies, while maintaining accountability for outcomes.
Support professional development of peers through role modeling, feedback, and precepting.
Advocate for patients and families to ensure appropriate care and outcomes.
Address conflicts constructively and participate in decision‑making processes, demonstrating adaptability and support for change.
What You Bring You bring a high level of knowledge and competency in performing nursing care procedures, assessments, treatment, and techniques. As a Registered Nurse, your advanced analytical skills enable you to solve complex problems and make decisions related to patient care. You demonstrate the interpersonal skills necessary to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff, patients, visitors, physicians, and others, and you communicate clearly in both verbal and written form.
Required Qualifications
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
Behavioral/Mental Health Nursing experience.
Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Indiana.
Candidates hired after January 1, 2014, must obtain or already hold a BSN within five years of employment or have the option to become certified in their area of specialty. Certification must be maintained based on accrediting body standards.
