Overview
The City of Huntsville’s Inspection Department is seeking qualified applicants to fill Electrical Inspector I and II positions. The department enforces building codes and issues building permits to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the public in relation to structures, and enforces licensing laws to prevent unlicensed contracting activity. Electrical Inspector I – Position Overview, Qualifications and Necessary Requirements
This is journey level electrical inspection work in securing and maintaining compliance with electrical construction codes. Work involves conducting inspections of a wide variety of electrical installations in residential, commercial, and industrial settings to determine whether plans, workmanship, and materials comply with related codes and ordinances governing the installation of electrical systems. Education/Experience: High school diploma from an accredited school or GED; or graduation from a vocational school; or any combination of education, training and experience with experience as a journeyman level Electrician. Certification: Current State of Alabama Certified Journeyman Electrician – required upon hire and must be maintained. Licensing/Driving: Valid Driver\'s License and good driving record. Electrical Inspector II – Position Overview, Qualifications and Necessary Requirements
This is an advanced journey level of electrical inspection work. It includes leading, providing assistance and advice to electrical inspectors and conducting more difficult and complex inspections. Certification: Alabama Certified Journeyman Electrician or International Code Council Certification as an Electrical Inspector. Licensing/Driving: Valid Driver\'s License and good driving record.
