Overview
The Maryland Department of Disabilities (MDOD) is seeking a Projects Coordinator for the Telecommunications Access of Maryland (TAM). TAM provides equipment and services for Marylanders who have difficulty using a telephone. TAM administers both Maryland Relay, the free public service that allows people who are unable to use a standard telephone to make and receive calls; and the Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT) program, which distributes State-provided assistive telecommunications equipment to qualified applicants. This Position is eligible for Telework. This position is limited to current employees of the Maryland Department of Disabilities. Location

Provide executive-level administrative support, front-desk coverage, project coordination, and content development for Telecommunications Access of Maryland (TAM). Support special projects such as office relocations, program implementation, training material development, and lead the creation of digital and print content that promotes Maryland Accessible Telecommunications (MAT), Maryland Relay, and related TAM programs. Ensure efficient office operations, coordinate with vendors and partner agencies, and develop accessible, engaging communications (e.g., social media posts, videos, FAQs, graphics, and training materials). Front Desk and Secretarial Support: provide front-desk coverage, monitor the office entrance, answer telephones, admit and welcome staff and authorized visitors; schedule appointments and meetings; resolve calendar conflicts; triage inquiries; maintain contact with constituents, professional staff, community partners, and local organizations. Open, sort, read (as needed), and distribute incoming correspondence, emails, and messages; prepare correspondence, meeting agendas, minutes, and other documents. Program and Project Coordination: provide project-specific assistance to the Director, including scheduling meetings and fielding inquiries from external actors or State partners; provide administrative support for TAM program implementations; track timelines, tasks, and deliverables. Assist in planning and overseeing disposal of surplus property; support office projects, including inventories, packing/labeling, and handling surplus furniture and electronics disposal; assist with setup and tear-down tasks. Content Creation: develop social media posts, short-form videos, training videos or tutorials, FAQs, and graphics; script, film, and edit videos with accessible captions; coordinate with staff and partners for on-camera participation; design graphics for social media, web, presentations, and print materials; draft and update FAQs and simple training materials. Outreach Support: plan and maintain a content calendar for social media, web content, and other channels; collaborate to identify new content needs; maintain a schedule of meetings with local disability advocacy organizations and community groups. General Support with Records and Other Duties: maintain filing systems; assist with data tracking and reporting related to projects and outreach; support outreach events and trainings (virtual or in-person). Universal Service Trust Fund Monitoring: update spreadsheet tracking payments from Maryland-based carriers; identify missing or inaccurate remittances and follow up; communicate changes to carriers as needed. minimum qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: Three years of administrative staff or professional work. Notes: Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to two years of the required experience. Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from a college or university for the required experience. Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work and independent judgment for the required experience on a year-for-year basis. Experience creating basic digital content such as short videos, social media posts, flyers, FAQs, longer video tutorials, graphics, or other outreach or training materials. Basic proficiency with standard office software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Gmail, Calendar); comfortable using spreadsheets for simple tracking and reporting. Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks, follow instructions, and meet deadlines with general supervision. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with callers, visitors, community partners, and staff verbally, in writing, and in American Sign Language. Experience working in a State or local government office, or familiarity with State government administrative or procurement processes. Experience working with or providing services to people with disabilities, or demonstrated awareness of accessibility and disability-related issues, including accessible communications and training materials.
