Job Summary Translate customer demand into a time sensitive production schedule that meets customer expectations. Customer orders are reviewed to ensure the production schedule reflects the quantity, due date and correct item numbers required. Work closely with other planners to ensure efficient workflow that meets customer requirements. Interact with the operations group to communicate customer requirements and timing of shipments.
Essential Functions
Release Shop Orders – Provide necessary information to Shop Floor to convert raw material into customer orders.
Schedule Work Centers – Provide time sensitive production schedule to shop floor detailing Item #, quantity, and due date.
Calculate Capacity Requirements – Translate customer requirements into demand planning to determine work center requirements.
Expedite Shop Orders to meet customer demand – Follow up shop orders through the process to ensure all shop orders meet customer expectations.
Determine material requirements for customer orders – Check BOM to ensure material is available.
Determine machine capacity requirements.
Lead weekly production meeting when Planning Manager absent – explain production requirements to operations and work to meet demand.
Direct activities of other Planners as determined by the Planning Manager.
Other responsibilities and tasks as appropriate to achieve Company initiatives.
Job Qualifications
Computer literate: MS Office required.
Knowledge of BPCS manufacturing software system.
Broad knowledge of planning, manufacturing, inventory, and customer focus.
Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and planning control systems.
Good problem-solving skills.
Strong interpersonal skills: ability to communicate orally and in writing; ability to present information one on one and in group settings, at all levels of the organization, under all circumstances, diplomatic.
Detail oriented and organized.
Self-starter, flexible and able to work under pressure, with continuous interruptions.
Must be able to work on multiple projects at one time without exhibiting undue stress.
Ability to delegate in fair and impartial manner while at the same time utilizing individual strengths.
Preferred
4-year degree Business Management or related field preferred.
Knowledge of pulp and paper industry preferred. APICS involvement and certification preferred.
Environment
Works in a large office with normal office noise levels.
Spends time daily in manufacturing area where PPE is required.
