Team Leader – Tractor Supply Company
Overall Job Summary : The Team Leader assists the Store Manager and Assistant Store Manager in executing operational, sales, and merchandising objectives, delivering a legendary customer experience. The Team Leader promotes a safe and productive work environment for team members, customers, and vendors, and trains team members on policies and procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities (Min 5%)
Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
Work scheduled shifts, including varied hours, days, nights, weekends, and overtime as needed.
Uphold and enforce safety and productivity policies.
Deliver Legendary Customer Service through GURA:
Greet the customer.
Uncover customer needs and wants.
Recommend product solutions.
Ask to add value and appreciate the customer.
Perform core duties during 95% of the shift, including:
Basic, promotional, and seasonal merchandising activities.
Opening and closing procedures.
Transporting and depositing cash to the bank.
Assessing store conditions and assigning duties.
Prioritizing workflow using the daily planner.
Recovering merchandise.
Participating in mandatory freight process.
Performing price change activities.
Resolving customer complaints and ensuring a legendary shopping experience.
Adhering to loss prevention standards and responding to alarms.
Communicating with team members about job functions, responsibilities, and financial goals.
Operating cash register/computer and supervising cash handling procedures.
Assisting team members with policies and procedures.
Sanitizing poultry holding tanks and caring for birds as required.
Operating forklift and baler.
Completing documentation for all job duties.
Obtaining required licenses or certifications.
May be required to perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Minimum 18 years of age; valid driver’s license.
Retail experience and/or farming, ranching, pet/equine, or welding knowledge strongly preferred.
Supervisory experience preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred, but not required; must be able to read, write, and count accurately.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, or Abilities
Basic computer skills.
Strong interpersonal skills; ability to resolve issues ethically with minimal conflict.
Ability to perform and execute principle responsibilities of Team Members.
Working Conditions
Indoor working environment with moderate noise; outdoor areas possible.
Shifts generally 4–8+ hours; may vary by store.
May need to work outdoors in adverse weather.
Must adhere to company safety training and guidelines.
Physical Requirements
Move and transfer merchandise up to 50 pounds; push/pull up to 2,000 pounds with equipment.
Occasional overhead lifting; frequent standing, kneeling, crouching, bending, stooping, climbing ladders.
Move throughout store entire shift.
Access all store areas.
Operate equipment: dolly, handtruck, forklift, baler, computer, cash register.
Read/write/count accurately for documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Process information via point‑of‑sale system.
Contact with birds/poultry.
Complete required training and certification (propane dispensing, etc. if applicable).
Travel as required to support district needs.
Drive or operate vehicle for business needs.
This position is non‑sedentary.
