Purpose of the Role The CFD Engineer is part of the CFD Engineering Team and is responsible for performing CFD analysis and collaborating with Project Engineers and the Sales Team on ventilation designs. The CFD Engineer reports to the CFD Engineering Manager and is accountable to both the Project Engineers and Sales Team on the creation of successful CFD models.

Base Pay Range $60,000.00/yr – $80,000.00/yr

Duties and Responsibilities

Modeling

Create and run CFD models of whole buildings using Ansys software from 2D drawings, customer-provided 3D models, and conceptual ventilation system designs from Project Engineers.

Collaborate with Project Engineers on ventilation designs and recommend changes based on model results.

Create and run CFD models using Ansys software for generic buildings and products as requested by the Marketing department.

Create PowerPoint presentations to illustrate the results of the CFD models.

National Travel – make site visits to gain a full understanding of the building’s existing ventilation and collect data to be used in the CFD analysis. Travel up to 25%.

Continuous Improvement

Create a foundation for the CFD process and ventilation designs that improves internal confidence in models and streamlines procedures by developing checklists, a Ventilation Design Guide, written procedures, etc., and recommending tools for improved data acquisition during site visits.

Expand Moffitt CFD capabilities by researching and implementing techniques, hardware upgrades, and software upgrades for modeling humidity, heat index/apparent temperature, fume/smoke concentration, refined temperature data analytics, etc.

Research and implement improved methods for CFD presentations to paint a clearer picture of the benefits of our proposed solutions to customers.

Skill/Job Requirements

Required

Cultural Fit: Team player, self‑motivated, quick learner.

Strong math, arithmetic, logic, and 3D‑visualization skills.

Prioritizing multiple concurrent projects to meet demanding sales deadlines.

High attention to detail.

Understanding of air and water flow dynamics.

4‑year engineering degree (3.0 GPA or above preferred).

3D CAD modeling experience.

Competency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Must be able to sit and work for prolonged periods in front of a computer monitor.

General understanding of simulations preferred.

HVAC industry exposure/experience.
