Emergency Department Technician
Location: Suffolk, VA
Schedule: Full‑Time, Evening and Night shifts available. Multiple shift options.
Overview Sentara Louise Obici Hospital is a 175‑bed state‑of‑the‑art facility located on Godwin Boulevard in Suffolk, VA. As a Magnet hospital and accredited Primary Stroke Center, the hospital provides high‑quality, patient‑centered care in a wide range of specialties.
Responsibilities
The ED Technician assists the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse in implementing care plans for emergency/minor emergency care patients.
Performs patient procedures and treatments under the supervision of the Physician, Advanced Practitioner, or Nurse.
Qualifications
Minimum Education: HS Diploma or Equivalent (Required).
Certification/Licensure: BLS certification within 90 days of hire.
Experience: Clinical experience (Required); De‑escalation and physical intervention training within 15 days of hire.
New incumbents must have one of the following in addition to the minimum education:
EMT‑B with state or national certification at time of hire.
Successful completion of US Military Hospital Corps School, qualified MMAC candidates.
Current student enrolled in a clinical program (e.g., RN, LPN, Respiratory, Physical Therapy) having completed at least one semester within the program.
Candidates with prior employment in the Sentara ED tech job code within the past two years will also be considered in lieu of the above criteria.
