Revenue Service Specialist 1

for our Registration Team. The Operations Division functions as the central hub for both alcohol and tax-related processes and procedures. This division administers the transportation and distribution of wholesale alcoholic liquor to more than 2,000 privately-owned retailers across Iowa, ensuring delivery is on time and in good condition. It also manages tax documents, payments and mail, and provides guidance to taxpayers for filing requirements and procedures. Responsibilities Process state, business, and individual tax forms for:

Third party access Account changes Account cancellations New account setups

Assist and advise taxpayers via telephone with their tax accounts and registration information and questions Process incoming and outgoing mail correspondence regarding taxpayer accounts Handle confidential information Preferred qualifications Technical experience with computers, network folders, and Google Workspace Ability to take initiative, pay attention to detail, and complete assignments efficiently with minimal supervision Adaptable to changing priorities throughout the day Understanding of customer service principles and processes, plus the ability to identify issues and explain options Experience responding to inquiries via phone and mail correspondence Job Specific Competencies Customer Service – principles and processes for providing customer services, including needs assessment, quality standards, and evaluating customer satisfaction Communication and comprehension skills Knowledge of business, accounting, and office practices and procedures Employer Highlights The Iowa Department of Revenue is a well-respected employer focused on providing excellent customer service, a positive team atmosphere, work-life balance, free parking, and casual attire. Minimum qualifications Applicants must meet at least one of the following minimum requirements to qualify for positions in this job classification: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an associate’s degree in any field. A total of two years of education and/or full-time experience, where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in any field equals one year of full-time experience in tax, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, insurance, analysis of financial or business forms and data, or answering technical or tax-related questions. Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes one year of full-time work in tax, accounting, bookkeeping, auditing, insurance, analysis of financial or business forms and data, or answering technical or tax-related questions.
