The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the monthly close process, preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciling accounts, preparing financial statements, and developing reports using Microsoft Excel and database reporting tools. This role contributes to the organization’s financial accuracy, operational insight, and overall success while upholding its mission, values, and standards.
Base pay range $75,000.00/yr - $85,000.00/yr
Responsibilities
Perform monthly balance sheet reconciliations in preparation for month-end close
Prepare complex journal entries and review entries prepared by junior staff
Conduct monthly variance analysis and investigate discrepancies
Assist in the preparation and analysis of financial statements
Prepare monthly operational and management reports with detailed analysis
Prepare, monitor, and review budgets for assigned accounts or entities
Lead annual tax preparation activities with appropriate support and review
Support the development and enhancement of accounting systems, processes, and procedures
Monitor accounting systems post-implementation to ensure accuracy and effectiveness
Maintain confidentiality and ensure compliance with HIPAA requirements
Collaborate with Accounting leadership on special projects and initiatives
Provide guidance and support to junior accounting staff
Complete ad‑hoc reporting, analysis, and process improvement initiatives
Perform other duties as assigned
Experience & Qualifications
5+ years of accounting experience; healthcare experience strongly preferred
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a related field
Strong working knowledge of GAAP
Intermediate to advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Experience with reporting tools and/or SQL preferred
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to collaborate effectively in a team environment
Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills
