in Houston, TX. This position is ideal for an engineer with 0–4 years of experience who will work with our Civil team on public infrastructure projects across Texas.
Responsibilities
Assist or lead in the production of construction plans, specifications, and cost estimates for new and existing public infrastructure projects.
Apply AutoCAD and/or Microstation in drafting design plans for utilities, roadway, and drainage/stormwater infrastructure.
Conduct field visits to assess existing site conditions and determine scope of work.
Prepare permitting application packages in coordination with governing agencies.
Prepare engineering reports, construction specifications, and bid documents.
Attend meetings with team and client representatives.
Address review comments and update plans in AutoCAD/Microstation.
Perform site visits after design and bidding to observe construction and prepare observation reports.
Attend industry events for networking and community engagement.
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
0–4 years’ experience in public infrastructure projects focused on design production and construction document preparation.
Engineer in Training (EIT) license obtained or scheduled to take the exam within 6 months of employment.
Strong preference for AutoCAD and/or Microstation design experience.
Authorized to work full‑time in the U.S.; WGI does not sponsor visas.
Physical Demands This job is performed in an office setting. Hand‑eye coordination is necessary to operate a computer, keyboard and mouse. Use of a telephone headset is required for virtual communication via Zoom or Microsoft Teams. The employee is often required to sit for prolonged periods and use hands/fingers to handle tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
