Notes: Onsite role. Work Schedule: Mon – Fri; 08:00 AM – 05:00 PM Pacific Time.

Description: This role is a high volume, front end operational patient navigator role within a pediatric cardiology and cardiac MRI program. This position is not care coordination or patient advocacy focused. Candidates whose background is primarily in community health navigation, case management, patient education, or support services without heavy Epic scheduling and work queue ownership will not be successful. Under the general direction of the Program Supervisor and the Pediatric Cardiology Director of Cardiac MRI, the Program Coordinator must have the ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks and work well with staff and faculty in a complex environment. Analytical and practice support will be provided for the Cardiac and “3D+” practices by supporting the Pediatric Cardiac Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) Program, UCSF’s Center for Advanced 3D+ Technologies (CA3D+), and other nursing/physician clinical support as needed. The position will identify and implement operational improvements to ensure high quality service to patients. Applies broad knowledge of clinical, regulatory, and operational practices to implement and monitor the operations of the Pediatric Cardiac MRI program and CA3D+ including clinical scheduling, insurance authorizations, documentation, financial reporting, IT systems, facilities, and procedures are compliant and meet clinical standards. The department is a newly established Center to apply “3D+” technologies (3D printing, augment/virtual/mixed reality, etc.) to enhance patient care. Multi-disciplinary collaboration involving the Pediatric Heart Center, and the Departments of Radiology and Orthopedics.

Qualifications: Candidates must have hands on, daily experience performing the following tasks independently in Epic: answering high volume inbound phone lines; managing Epic work queues end to end; scheduling new and follow up appointments; patient registration and demographic verification; insurance verification and authorization workflows. Strong preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in hospital or academic medical center settings who have worked in patient access, practice coordinator, scheduling, or front desk navigator roles using Epic daily. Experience needed: Customer service mainly on phone, Workqueue management, scheduling of patients, organized, detailed orientated and if possible, experience with APEX. Experience supporting specialty clinics, pediatrics, radiology, cardiology, or other complex subspecialty programs is highly desirable. A high degree of independence, initiative, assertiveness, and diplomacy are necessary in daily practice.
