The Impact You Will Make
Reporting directly to the Foundry Engineer Manager, the Tooling and Design Engineer is responsible for improving foundry casting yield and reducing scrap for bronze castings. This role is design oriented requiring creative thinking and proactive solutions.
A Typical Day
The Tooling and Design Engineer is responsible for creating 3D parametric CAD models and drawings of pattern plates, core boxes, and other tooling.
Design metal flow and gating systems for green sand molding.
Improve casting yield to reduce amount of metal consumed in the pouring process.
Perform filling and solidification analysis using Magmasoft Casting Simulation Software.
Standardize pouring system, tooling components, and design guidelines.
Develop and maintain technical expertise through working with vendors, conferences, and traveling offsite to other foundries.
Share & learn best practices with other Aalberts foundries.
Your Expertise
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field preferred.
Experience with 3D CAD modeling software (Solid Edge, SolidWorks, etc.).
Experience learning new software and technical skills. This role will utilize Magmasoft and Slicer.
Ability to lift 30 lbs.
Your Location
This position is onsite Monday through Friday at our Pageland, South Carolina foundry.
