Overview
Negotiates, drafts, and reviews documents related to NBMC collection matters and guardianship documents/pleadings. Advises all levels of management as directed by the General Counsel and Vice President for Legal regarding legal questions arising in the course of department activities; counsels on the legal responsibilities of the Hospital when appropriate. Reviews as to form and legality affiliations, agreements, grants, by-laws, maintenance contracts, and vendor agreements as directed by Legal counsel, and advises Legal counsel accordingly. Creates, maintains, and coordinates contract files and tickler files. Researches and stays abreast of pertinent federal, state, and BRMC regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist or change, as directed by Legal counsel. Manages claims/litigation in collaboration with the insurance carrier and assigned counsel. Handles all subpoena requests and coordinates with medical records. Manages Behavioral Health Central Clerical Department related to the civil commitment process. Works with Associate Counsel to handle judicial requests during civil commitment hearings, with follow-up with appropriate administrators. Coordinates Krol hearings and distributes Krol orders to physicians and social workers.

Basic Competencies Education/Certification:
Bachelors degree and Paralegal Certificate
Experience:
One three years.
Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word.
Proficiency in Westlaw and/or Lexis-Nexis
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Good interpersonal skills.
Speaks, reads and writes English to the extent required by the position.
Salary & Benefits Salary:
$55,000-$75,000 Annually. Salary is commensurate with experience within posted range.
