Job Summary The primary responsibility of this role is to work as the business unit owner for operational and project‑based sourcing activities to achieve targeted savings across all Region/BU categories, negotiate local contracts, monitor supplier performance, and coordinate procurement activities for successful project delivery. The role leverages AI tools and emerging technologies to enhance procurement analytics, data extraction, and decision‑making capabilities. It also uses Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) strategies to optimize vendor partnerships and deliver value. The candidate manages daily activities within the purchasing process and serves as the primary interface with business owners, project teams, and supplier representatives.
Duties and Responsibilities
Operational Procurement & Business Integration Support
Support operational procurement leadership in integrating procurement in key business functions
Provide direction to Business Unit stakeholders on the correct procurement team member
Perform day‑to‑day operational support for demand management, supplier issue resolution, supplier risk management, and supplier lifecycle management
Support supplier management and SRM strategies; pre‑qualify potential bidders for local, regional, and global tenders
Support planning of procurement priorities and projects, and provide business context to category management
Support improvements in purchasing efficiencies and working capital with Region/BU leadership
Support overall cost for Region/BU through negotiation and strategic initiatives
Assist in researching new sources of supply and alternate products/technologies
Support contract implementation, risk mitigation, and collaboration with the Law Department
Conduct local BU bidding/RFx process execution through analysis, negotiation, award, and implementation
Investigate possible customer solutions with assistance from others as needed
Leverage AI tools to extract and analyze procurement data for cost optimization opportunities
Develop strong supplier relationships through performance scorecards, business reviews, and collaborative improvement initiatives
Conduct periodic site visits with off‑site stakeholders and vendors to strengthen relationships
Project Procurement Coordination & Execution
Work with project, construction, and engineering teams to deliver value through effective sourcing and contract management
Execute and manage performance of project contract strategy elements pertaining to assigned scope
Accountable for procurement deliverables for each project milestone
Conduct or support contract negotiations as needed
Execute Procure to Invoice Process
Manage P‑Card program, if assigned
Process purchase orders and manage spot buying
Manage PO delivery, contract maintenance, master data, and content
Utilize analytics and AI‑enabled insights for reporting
Internal Customer, Supplier, and Accounts Payable Management
Support resolution of supplier issues impacting business activity
Respond to non‑standard requests from internal and/or external customers
Interact with stakeholders to understand business drivers and requirements
Address and resolve discrepancies, support expediting orders, and analyze solutions
Ensure timely and accurate payment processing with Accounts Payable and suppliers
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to work in a global, matrixed team environment
Experience with operational and project procurement across various channels
Experience with operational purchasing, requisitions, change orders, P‑Cards
Project procurement delivery experience and knowledge of strategic sourcing, SRM, and supplier management
Knowledge of procure‑to‑pay processes, tools, and philosophies
Familiarity with spend assessment methodologies and technology
Demonstrated contract administration experience
Collaboration, conflict resolution, business acumen, analytical, process‑driven, problem solving, detail orientation, communication, organization, and project management skills
Exposure to e‑Procurement, e‑Catalogs, contract management, P2P technology practices and trends
Contract negotiation experience and knowledge of legal principles
Experience with Sourcing Systems and ERP such as SAP Ariba
Strategic sourcing, SRM, technical buying, eRFX, eAuction, and P2P technologies experience
Experience extracting insights from procurement documents with AI‑powered tools
Ability to collaborate with internal stakeholders across disciplines and suppliers
Compliance with UGI’s Procurement Controls Policy and audit resolution activities
Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business (or related program) or Associate’s degree plus substantial procurement experience preferred
Minimum of 3 years in procurement operations; project procurement experience desired
