The Department of Environmental Quality/Office of Environmental Assessment has a vacancy. The Louisiana Department of Environmental Quality’s (LDEQ) mission is to provide service to the people of Louisiana through comprehensive environmental protection in order to promote and protect health, safety and welfare. Join the Air Permits Division, where Environmental Scientists play a key role in drafting the permitting actions that protect and maintain the air quality of the state. We’re looking for self-starters who will use sound scientific judgment and attention to detail to review applications and correspondence from the manufacturing industry. In this position, you will work with a team of Air Permit Writers to build your own knowledge base and ensure permitting actions are correct and consistent with local, state and federal regulations.
Responsibilities
Collects Water Quality Data in the Field as part of a Sampling Team or Project Lead
Performs Internal Data Review
Maintain Proficiency with Equipment and Procedures to Train Staff
Assist with Standard Operating Procedure Maintenance and Development
Assist with Maintenance and Procurement of Supplies and Equipment
Position-Specific Details Appointment Type:
Promotion – Internal Open only to current permanent employees of DEQ

Compensation:
This position offers a Special Entrance Rate (SER) listed below. This is the minimum compensation that may be offered. The job title and salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
