Position Summary St. Anthony Catholic High School, a private, college preparatory High school for young men and women, is seeking an experienced part-time Assistant Softball Coach. This is a seasonal part-time position. Position is expected to coach sport within the mission of St. Anthony Catholic High School and our Core Values of Honesty & Integrity; Community; Service & Social Justice; Scholarship; and Holistic Education. The Assistant Softball Coach reports to the Athletic Director.

Job Duties

Assists the head coach with instructing players in the rules, regulations, equipment and techniques of the sport.

Organizes and directs individual and small group practice activities/exercises as directed by the head coach.

Assesses player’s skills, monitors players during competition and practice, and keeps the head coach informed of the athletic performance of athletes.

Assists with determining game strategy.

Assists the head coach with supervising athletes during practices and competition.

Follows established procedures in the event of an athlete’s injury.

Models sports-like behavior and maintains appropriate conduct towards players, officials and spectators.

Participates in special activities to include parent’s night, banquets, awards night and pep assemblies.

Works with the athletic director with eligibility, equipment inventory and other related paperwork.

Attends staff meetings, clinics and other professional activities to improve coaching performance.

Performs any other related duties as assigned by the principal and athletic director.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Must possess effective coaching techniques and skills.

Must possess a thorough knowledge of the rules, regulations, strategies and techniques of the sport.

Must possess the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administrators, parents and students.

Ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse communities and cultures.

Required Education High School Diploma or equivalent.

Required Work Experience Two (2) years of softball coaching experience or collegiate playing experience. Note that high school playing experience in this sport will be considered.

Preferred Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree.

Collegiate playing experience.

Three years of coaching experience in this sport.

Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations

Must have CDL or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Valid driver license and driving record that is insurable under UIW insurance carrier.

Must be at least 21 years of age.

Work Hours PT coach hours are Mon-Fri after school (school days only) from 3:30-5:30pm.

Physical Demands Typical for coach in this sport.
