Job Summary The Ramp Supervisor will lead, direct, and coordinate the efforts of ground, line, and cabin service personnel and the timely delivery of all services for airlines as contracted. The Ramp Supervisor will be accountable for safety, operation standards, policy implementation, client relations, and financial performance for ramp operations.
Job Responsibilities
Establish shift assignments for full-time and part-time employees
Monitor and ensure safe and efficient operation of all airline ground support equipment
Report any discrepancies, functional or mechanical, on ground support equipment
Coordinate with carriers to ensure cargo and baggage service meets their needs and on‑time schedules are met
Ensure equipment is safe, operating, and in status
Conferring with other supervisors and managers to coordinate activities across departments
Determine manpower requirements and conduct disciplinary procedures fairly and consistently
Comply with attendance/tardiness standards, handle high pressure situations, and meet fixed time constraints
Keep necessary ground equipment ready in ramp area and bag room for upcoming flights
Read and interpret aircraft weight and balance loading instructions, hazardous materials identification labels, aircraft loading manifest, and baggage routing tags
Follow and comply with all federal, state, municipal, airport authority, and carrier rules and regulations
Brief crews before flights on positions to take and flight operations
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
6+ months of computer experience; knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
Ability to navigate electronic devices (computers, fax machines, printers, timeclock, etc.)
Proven track record in supervising a business unit
Experience in operational planning and resource allocation
Working knowledge of GSE maintenance issues
Understanding of commercial aviation issues
High school diploma or GED
Minimum age 18
Ability to process information in a timely manner
Valid driver’s license
Proficient English reading, speaking, and writing
Basic computer literacy
Previous ramp or airline experience
Successful completion of all required training and maintenance of certifications during employment
Clear FBI fingerprint background check
Physical Requirements
Physically fit to perform duties including standing, lifting, bending, pushing, and pulling for extended periods of time
Capable of lifting up to 70 pounds repetitively in confined spaces
Willing to work outside in all types of weather conditions with exposure to loud noises
Specific Working Hours
Flexible to work variable shifts, weekends, holidays, and non‑routine operations with potential extended hours on short notice
