Role Description
The Safety Specialist will primarily work in the field, conducting construction site inspections and interacting with crews to promote safe work practices. This role supports hazard identification and correction, participates in pre-task planning, safety meetings, and incident investigations, and assists with reporting and regulatory compliance. Responsibilities also include issuing permits, supporting emergency response activities, maintaining safety systems, and delivering safety training and new hire orientations, with additional duties assigned as needed to support business operations.
Qualifications
5+ years of safety experience.
EHS certification or science-related degree.
Valid OSHA #510 (for construction side) or #511 (for operation side)
Specialized safety training (e.g. HAZWOPER, ESS, NFPA 70E).
Able to perform listed safety duties.
Language Skills: Bilingual proficiency in Mandarin-Chinese is preferred.
Duties & Responsibilities
Conduct regular walk-through inspections of construction areas (Upwards of 80% of the Job is spent in the field doing audits and interacting with the crews).
Assist in identifying, documenting, and recommending resolution of hazardous/potentially hazardous conditions; follow through to ensure corrections have been made.
Participate in job pre-task planning and job site safety meetings.
Assist with investigating personal injury and property damage accidents.
Assist with compiling data, photographs, etc.; prepare appropriate forms and reports per program procedures and federal, state, and local accident regulations.
Issue various entry permits (i.e., confined spaces) as required.
Assist in emergency rescues as required. Assist in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems.
Conduct Awareness level training and New Hire Orientations.
