Position Summary The Research Data Associate (RDA) will join the Critical Care and Resuscitation Research Group led by Dr. Sam Parnia within the Division of Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. The RDA is an active participant in coordination of critical care and resuscitation research studies from planning to completion, working closely with the Senior Research Scientist to ensure compliance and protocol adherence.
Job Responsibilities
Interact with patients, subjects, and families courteously and professionally.
Collaborate with various personnel involved in study activities.
Gather, properly package, store, and transfer slides, samples, and other important materials; coordinate their shipment across departments and laboratories.
Complete assessments on study subjects per protocol (upon proper training); follow through with items and patients as part of the research study.
Draw blood, perform EKG, and/or take vital signs (if properly trained).
Travel to study initiation sites as required.
Ensure protocol compliance, following eligibility criteria, follow‑up processes, and documentation standards.
Demonstrate knowledge of institutional policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements such as IRB approvals.
Act as an internal auditor during quarterly audits, maintaining up‑to‑date regulatory documents.
Initiate and maintain regular contact with patients, encouraging visit reminders and compliance with research protocols.
Use established methodologies to collect patient information; gather and compile data, statistics, and other materials.
Input clinical and non‑clinical data into databases and case report forms; extract data for publications or external physician offices.
Perform library searches and retrieve reference materials; request articles from medical journals.
Compile data and assist in consolidating and analyzing data for presentation to sponsors and regulatory agencies.
Review data with supervisor and provide reports to all parties (data and safety monitoring committees, principal investigators, sponsoring agencies, etc.).
Recruit and screen potential patients/subjects for study eligibility.
Minimum Qualifications
Associate’s degree plus one year of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Computer‑literate with strong interpersonal, writing, and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree, preferably in science, public health, health education, or a related field.
Prior experience in a healthcare setting and/or research level interviews.
Prior patient education experience.
Effective communication with all levels of the organization.
