Position Summary We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as an Associate Research Coordinator. In this role, the successful candidate will provide moderate to advanced coordination of research studies conducted at NYU Langone Health Medical Centers, assist with recruitment, enrollment, grant submissions, research data collection, and study coordination activities. The role serves as a liaison with internal and external funding agencies, ensures the accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, FDA, and required obligations to research participants, Principal Investigators, the Research Team, and sponsors. The coordinator interfaces directly with patients/subjects and Principal Investigators in support of clinical trials, when applicable.
Key liaisons include Research Nurses, Research Pharmacists, Program Managers, Medical Technicians, Clinical Information Systems, and Regulatory Services. The coordinator may assist in the initiation and management of research studies and will be trained as a delegate of LiveOnNY, the Organ Procurement Organization serving the greater New York City Metropolitan Area, to provide on‑site responses, lead family donation conversations, advocate for organ donation, and support families throughout the process.
Job Responsibilities
Provide moderate to advanced coordination of research studies conducted at NYU Langone Health Medical Centers, including recruitment, enrollment, grant submissions, research data collection, and study coordination activities.
Serve as liaison with internal and external funding agencies, ensuring accurate execution of research protocols in accordance with Good Clinical Practices, HIPAA, FDA, and obligations to research participants, Principal Investigators, the Research Team, and sponsors.
Interface directly with patients/subjects and Principal Investigators in support of clinical trials (if applicable).
Establish liaisons with relevant parties at the Medical Centers (Research Nurses, Research Pharmacists, Program Managers, Medical Technicians, Clinical Information Systems, Regulatory Services).
Assist in the initiation and management of research studies, working under general direction of the Project Manager and Principal Investigators.
Be trained as a delegate of LiveOnNY to provide on‑site responses, lead family donation conversations, advocate for organ donation, and support families throughout the process.
Oversee submission of necessary documents to the NYU Institutional Review Board (IRB) and NYU Office of Clinical Trials, updating approvals, and submitting monthly enrollment statistics.
Maintain up‑to‑date regulatory documents and assist with study guidelines.
Assist with informed consent process, ensuring patients fully understand requirements, remind patients of visits, monitor safety issues, and report to Principal Investigator.
Collect and audit patient information (lab results, treatments, adverse reactions), abstract data for publications, manage data database, prepare forms, reports, statistics.
Conduct study visits, qualitative interviews, and document information within specified time frame.
Assist in preparing funding reports, identify new sponsors, and help generate preliminary reports for sponsors and regulatory agencies.
Make decisions on data significance, resolve complex situations, refer unsolved issues to supervisor.
Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
Screen potential patients for eligibility, gather information from records, physician referrals, advertisements, and schedule visits; ensure inclusion/exclusion criteria and informed consent are met.
Maintain continuous learning and professional development in research role.
Serve as a resource to peers, collaborating with other disciplines.
Research, consolidate and analyze data, conduct preliminary analyses, and provide reports to sponsors and regulatory agencies.
Complete assessments on study subjects as per protocol.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in life sciences, allied health, or equivalent; 0–1 year experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Effective oral, written, communication, interpersonal skills; able to work under supervision.
Ability to operate research‑related equipment.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook) and Internet applications.
Ability to identify, analyze, and solve problems; excellent time‑management skills and ability to work well under pressure.
Qualified candidates must effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
