Job Description Purpose and Scope Teach Math courses in a part‑time capacity, plan, develop, and deliver instruction that facilitates student learning and supports the college’s educational environment.
Essential Job Functions
Teach Math courses at a variety of times and locations
Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement and application of the material
Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
Utilize a course syllabus for each course, following established institutional guidelines
Meet with and advise students by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
Evaluate students to measure progress toward course objectives and report results promptly
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
Perform other reasonable duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Mastery of course content
Demonstrated leadership skills with a collaborative, teamwork‑oriented style
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, and adult learning methodologies (collaborative learning, learning communities, distance learning)
Commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning
Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, civic engagement, learning communities, and technology integration
Effective strategies to engage students in their learning
Physical Abilities The work is sedentary, with occasional walking, standing, bending, and light carrying. No special physical demands are required.
Work Schedule and Conditions
Use of PC workstation, calculator, phone, and standard office equipment within a Microsoft Windows environment
Interface with internal and external contacts as needed
Work in a climate‑controlled classroom with minimal safety hazards
Hours vary by class time; instructors must be available to students outside of instruction
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in Mathematics or a Master’s degree with 18 graduate hours in Mathematics or Statistics
Salary $55.44 per contact hour.
