General Purpose Under general supervision, provides comprehensive speech therapy and language development services to a specified population of residents. Screens and evaluates residents; develops and implements therapeutic speech and language development program and services.
Essential Job Functions
Examines, tests, diagnoses, and administers treatments for residents with speech, language, hearing, and oral‑motor disorders.
Performs evaluations with particular attention to receptive and expressive language skills, speech fluency, vocal and oral‑motor competence, articulation, and auditory skills.
Maintains communication with residents and others concerning progress, problems, home programs, and other issues related to the therapeutic process.
Facilitates behavior management in residents and families as appropriate to the needs of the resident.
Maintains records of work performed.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor of Science Degree in Speech Therapy
Current license in state of practice
Certification, if applicable, and demonstrated competency in identified areas of specialization
Organized and detailed in work performance
Good communication skills with excellent self‑discipline and patience
Genuine caring for and interest in elderly and disabled people in a nursing facility
