Overview
Our client is seeking an IT Lab Technician to support operations in a research and development laboratory environment. This role involves hands‑on laboratory work including sample preparation, physical and chemical testing, and operation of specialized laboratory equipment. The ideal candidate is safety‑focused, detail‑oriented, and comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced lab setting while collaborating closely with engineers and scientists.
Key Responsibilities
Perform laboratory tasks such as sample preparation, physical testing, and chemical analysis
Prepare and test rubber compounds using specialized mixing, milling, and analytical equipment
Follow all safety, quality, and regulatory procedures and proactively identify potential issues
Operate, set up, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment and associated software
Use hand tools to prepare test specimens
Collect, compile, and document test data, operating records, and reports
Communicate effectively with internal customers, including engineers and scientists
Maintain high levels of productivity, quality, and safety with minimal supervision
Demonstrate flexibility by assisting in other laboratory areas when trained
Manage time effectively to meet priorities and turnaround expectations
Qualifications
Experience working in a laboratory, manufacturing, or R&D environment
Knowledge of rubber compound preparation and/or physical and analytical testing techniques, gained through education or equivalent work experience
Basic computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office and web‑based applications
Ability to operate laboratory mixing and milling equipment
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
Ability to learn new concepts and equipment within a reasonable timeframe
Comfortable working in environments with potential exposure to fumes, dust, heat, and noise
Ability to stand for extended periods and perform physical tasks, including lifting moderate weights
Positive, professional attitude with the ability to work effectively in a team environment

This is a contract role based on‑site in Akron, Ohio
