Who We Are HII Mission Technologies is seeking Engineer Test Operations to join our Nuclear Environmental Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the operational integrity and safety of nuclear propulsion systems. You will develop, oversee, and execute complex test programs for the U.S. Navy, requiring engineering rigor, shipyard operational knowledge, and a commitment to nuclear safety.
What You Will Do
Gather, maintain, format, compile, and manipulate technical data such as laboratory or material test results and engineering design changes.
Produce engineering documentation, reports, drawings (flow charts, block diagrams, and schematics).
Perform detailed mathematical calculations using established formulas; conduct preliminary analyses of data where guidelines are provided, e.g., trajectory adequacy and model dimensional consistency.
Use a personal computer to perform analyses and develop documentation/reports.
Conduct tests and record data to assist with engineering evaluation or analysis.
Education / Experience
Engineering Test Operations 1 – Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering; 0 years of relevant professional/exempt experience. Requires ABET‑accredited program.
Engineering Test Operations 2 – Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering; 2 years of relevant professional/exempt experience. Requires ABET‑accredited program.
Security Compliance Knowledge & Operational Skills
Experience reading and interpreting Engineering Drawings and Schematics.
Ability to work in a team environment, planning and coordinating with other functional departments across a wide range of disciplines.
Strong communication, organizational, and computer skills.
U.S. citizen.
Ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Security Clearance.
Bonus Points For Having
Shipyard or U.S. Navy A4W propulsion and/or reactor plant construction, operation, and/or maintenance experience.
Working knowledge of shipyard work control processes, including proficiency with Electronic Shift Operating Management System (eSOMS).
Active Confidential DOD Security Clearance.
Physical Requirements Office, industrial, or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed one‑man lift guidelines.
