Overview
The Kraft Heinz Company is currently seeking a
Process Operator
to work at our food processing facility in Avon, NY. Successful candidates must be willing to supply improvements suggestions and ideas to help continue the success of our facility. Ideal individuals must be safety and quality orientated along with demonstrate adaptability and willingness to work in a team orientated, fast paced work environment. This position requires individuals to perform general production duties in a food manufacturing environment following strict quality and safety standards.
Responsibilities
Basic Purpose: To ensure that Cool Whip® emulsion is cooled, aged, processed, whipped, filled, lidded, weighed, properly coded, and sent to the packaging area efficiently and safely to provide the highest level of quality and delivery to our customers.
Perform weekend cleaning and sanitizing activities, including but not limited to CIPS, chemical usage and handling, working with strawman hoses (hot and cold water), hopper, miscellaneous production equipment, filler cleaning, floor scrubbing, production-sanitation preventative maintenance tasks, manifold y-pipe cleaning/changing, and period cleaning.
Performs changeover cleaning/sanitizing and production activities, including but not limited to cleaning and sanitizing fillers, hoppers, manifolds, y-pipes, sparge tube hoses, and miscellaneous parts.
Communicate with the Supervisor or group leader about product changeovers and any other information necessary to ensure the specified degree of quality and efficiency.
Perform sanitation and CIP cleaning of processing equipment: safe use and handling of chemicals. Perform (as needed) changing and cleaning of sparge tube and hopper manifolds. Operate, maintain quality specifications, and perform minor adjustments on the holding, pumping, and whipping equipment. Safe operation of the bowl dispensing equipment to provide bowls to the filler in the specified degree of quality and efficiency.
Understand safe operation of the Cherry-Burrell fillers, control and drive power differences, Lockout tag-out requirements for the Cherry-Burrell fillers, ALH system, all applicable conveying systems, and all CIP components as appropriate. Understands filler jam detection system. Visually inspects filler beds and monitors for jams and other filler bed issues; respond to alarms safely and promptly. Clean filler jams as needed.
Demonstrate safe and efficient operation of the Panel mates and Lid/Filler HMIs (Human Machine Interface). Operate Auto lid handling systems and ALH system and related hardware. Operate all components of the weight control system, adhere to quality and regulatory weight control guidelines. Knowledge, operation, and use of all components of the OEE system and associated quality record-keeping.
Communicate with platform operator for out-of-spec and/or remelt conditions; monitor remelt system to prevent freezing and know how to thaw it. Manage SS waste carts to support remelt activity; dumps remelt carts as required. Perform safe manual lid loading when not using ALH systems.
Be qualified and certified on the safe operation of all applicable powered equipment and correctly fill out the Powered Equipment Inspection form. Comply with Corporate POG, Plant DPS, Plant Safety, and GMP programs; follow HACCP guidelines and QRMP standards.
Read and understand the Production Schedule to stage and use the correct supplies; stage packaging materials in adherence with quality, safety, and GMP guidelines; complete packaging traceability forms and material reject forms. Maintain a clean and orderly work and staging area; observe safety rules and practices. Dispose of trash and remelt/waste properly and end-of-shift area cleanup.
Record QC testing results, downtime, audits, in-process indices for the “Green Room,” and equipment performance data.

Recognize and report unusual conditions or defective equipment.
Observe all safety rules, precautions, and practices; perform preventative maintenance; period cleaning; rework activities as assigned; train additional personnel; participate in QRMP yearly audit; assist in procedures and corrective actions; perform other duties as directed.

Physical Demands Standing up to 12 hours a day; lifting/pushing/pulling up to 50 lbs; repetitive motion, kneeling, twisting, squatting, climbing stairs; working in hot and cold environments (90°F to -35°F).
Work Environment Exposure to moving mechanical parts, high noise levels, chemicals, frozen products, fumes or airborne particles, constant stair climbing, and slippery floors. Personal Protective Equipment includes safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, gloves, rubber boots, chemical protection, and other PPE.
Qualifications/Competencies In making the final selection, consideration will be given to qualifications, experience, attendance, and seniority. Applicants must have demonstrated communication and documentation skills: reading Standard English, conversational speaking, and ability to read, write, and perform basic arithmetic. Demonstrated proficiency in computer applications. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
