Job Description: The role involves teaching Spanish courses, preparing engaging lessons, and supporting student learning. Responsibilities include teaching, course development, student advising, grading, attending meetings, and performing related duties.
Essential Job Functions:
Teach Spanish courses at a variety of times and locations
Create engaging lessons that promote student involvement
Submit required college reports and forms in a timely manner
Use a course syllabus following institutional guidelines
Meet with and advise students either before or after class, by appointment, electronic communication, or other appropriate methods
Evaluate students to measure progress and inform them in a timely manner
Maintain professional relationships with students, colleagues, and the community
Attend meetings, trainings, and orientations as required
Perform other reasonable related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Mastery of course content
Demonstrated leadership skills; collaborative style
Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to appreciate alternative viewpoints and work effectively with diverse people
Interest in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies
Commitment to academic excellence and lifelong learning
Ability to develop and implement instructional approaches such as service learning, learning communities, and technology use
Ability to use effective strategies to engage students in learning
Physical Abilities:
Sedentary work, occasional walking, standing, bending, and carrying light items such as papers or books.
Work Schedule and Conditions:
Use a PC workstation, calculator, phone, and other general office equipment
Interface with internal and external contacts as needed
Work in a climate‑controlled classroom or lab environment with minimal exposure to safety hazards
Hours vary by class schedule; instructors must be available to students outside of class instruction
Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Spanish or related discipline (or 18 graduate hours in the discipline).
Salary:
$55.44 per contact hour.
