The Locust Valley Central School District is looking for a
Part-Time Bus Attendant- Hourly Position
to join our team in providing a safe, nurturing and challenging classroom environment devoted to helping all students reach their full potential.
Responsibilities
Supervises children and maintains order on the school bus to ensure safety and discipline; performs related duties as required.
Supervise the loading and unloading of buses at various stopping points.
Maintains order on the bus and makes certain that the children are seated while the bus is in motion.
Assist the bus driver in communicating with parents and school staff/faculty.
Enforce safety rules and policies on the bus.
Helps children cross roads (as appropriate) safely.
Reporting any incidents and/or injuries that occur on the bus. If any incidents occur, produce summary reports of the incident for the school.
Maintain accurate student attendance and behavior on the bus.
Assist students with special needs/mobility issues (if appropriate).
May assist children in the lower grades with getting on the bus and assisting with seat-belts.
Qualifications
HS diploma
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Works well with others
Must be physically able to climb and descend bus steps
