Overview

BUS MONITORS This work involves responsibility for the routine supervision and care of school-age children as well as the maintaining order on school buses, supervising the conduct of problem students and interceding in student altercations. Typical Work Activities

Monitors students in parking lots and supervises the loading of buses; Accompanies students to and from school to maintain order on buses; Supervises and/or attempts to calm students; Informs superiors of observations of student behavior; May assist in rendering first aid in emergencies. Ability to get along well with school-age children and command their respect; Good observation; Personal characteristics necessary to perform the duties of the position; Physical condition commensurate with the demands of the position: Standard #1: Bus Steps - 3 trips up & down the bus steps in 30 seconds Standard #2: Door - Manually open and close entrance door 3 times Standard #3: Emergency Exit – From Driver Seat and out Exit in 20 seconds Standard #4: Weight Drag – 125 lbs 30 feet in 30 seconds

Minimum Qualifications

No minimum qualifications $17.20/hour Candidates must pass NYSED School Bus Driver Physical Performance Test and Background Check per NY State Requirements In addition to submitting all required documents through SchoolFront, applicants must also complete the Dutchess County Civil Service Application and email it to Carmen Pagan-Colon at pagancolon.c@beaconk12.org. Please note that all application materials must be received in order for us to proceed with the hiring process. This includes: Board of Education approval through the Beacon City School District, and Civil Service approval through Dutchess County Human Resources.
