Primary Purpose: Provide targeted instructional support and interventions to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher. Assist in preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities.

Qualifications Education/Certification/Requirements: High School Diploma or GED and meet one of the following requirements:

Completion of 48 credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education

Possess an associate (or higher) degree

OR Passing score on the paraprofessional assessment - Must qualify for the required paraprofessional certificate (Educational Aide I) and meet the following requirements for certification:

Experience working with students or parents as approved by the employing superintendent. Experience may be working in church-related schools, day camps, youth groups, private schools, licensed day-care centers, or similar experience.

Special Knowledge/Skills

Ability to work with students with disabilities

Ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents orally and in writing.

Ability to follow verbal and written instructions

Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills

Ability to use basic computer skills to include Microsoft Office Software

Bilingual Preferred

Major Responsibilities and Duties Instructional Support

Provide targeted instruction and classroom support to students under the direction of a teacher and work with individual students or small groups (i.e. Blended Learning, RTI/MTSS, etc.).

Works closely with campus teachers to address the needs of students.

Assist teacher in preparing instructional materials and activities, centers, and classroom displays.

Assist teacher in analyzing data to inform teacher center activities.

Assist with the administration and scoring of objective testing instruments or work assignments.

Help maintain neat and orderly classrooms.

Help with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.

Help teachers keep administrative records and prepare required reports.

Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.

Student Management

Help supervise students throughout school day, inside and outside classroom. This includes lunchroom, bus, and playground duty.

Make teacher aware of special needs or problems of individual students.

Other

Participate in staff development training programs to improve job performance (i.e. Blended Learning, RTI/MTSS, etc.).

Participate in faculty meetings and special events as assigned.

Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.

Participate in monthly Blended Learning Steering Committees as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities None

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors Tools/Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals; standard instructional equipment Posture: Moderate standing; occasional kneeling, squatting, bending, and stooping Motion: Moderate walking Lifting: Regular light lifting and carrying (less than 15 pounds) Environment: Work inside and outside (exposure to sun, heat, cold, and inclement weather); exposure to noise Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress

Terms of Employment Primary Location: Elementary School Child Nutrition Pay Plan/Pay Grade 3 Starting Hourly Rate: $17.33 Shift Type: Full-Time Term of Employment: 182 days
