Summary In addition to the duties of Maintenance Technician II, the Master Technician is responsible for performing duties to maintain and repair all production and facility equipment plus having the ability to modify programming codes. The Master Technician works from daily job assignments, prints, schematics, wiring diagrams, machine manuals, sketches and instructions. This role does not have direct reports.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform all duties and responsibilities in accordance with Mizkan America safety policies, OSHA regulations, GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices), and SOP (Standard Operating Procedures).

Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair complex equipment breakdowns involving mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic components.

Tear down equipment, rebuild, and replace defective parts and component units such as: motors, gear boxes, clutches, bearings, and electrical units as needed, reassemble, and make final equipment adjustments.

Troubleshoot PLC programming errors and adjust existing programs as needed.

Perform regular checks on all building equipment such as sprinkler system, acetator pumps, boilers, compressors, and power systems as required.

Work closely with production personnel or service technicians on equipment repairs.

Lay out circuits and install electrical wiring systems to handle required loads for various parts of the plant, run lines, make connections, install proper safety devices, and provide for necessary outlets and switches.

Install and hook-up production equipment, exercising care as to size of motors, voltage requirements and balance circuits for proper power distribution.

Maintain all related records and logs in the preventative maintenance system.

Maintain plant water treatment system and equipment, take samples as scheduled and make adjustments as needed.

Participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement efforts.

Coordinate with outside contractors and manage day-to-day progress on projects as required.

Follow all safety rules to include but not limited to LOTO and keep area clean and in orderly condition.

Responsible for food product quality and safety.

Education

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent required

Associate degree in electronics preferred but not required

Trade school certification in a related field such as Industrial Electronics/Electricians Certification preferred

Related courses through technical or trade schools, including in-house training preferred

Previous experience in industrial maintenance preferred

Experience and Qualifications

5 years of related experience within a food processing, bottling, liquid filling/blending and/or consumer goods manufacturing/packing environment

5 yeas of experience troubleshooting and repairing complex industrial mechanical equipment.

Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems, read schematics, establish priorities, and work under deadline pressures.

Familiarity with assembly line PLC controls.

Use mathematics together with the analytical use of complicated machine drawings and the use various types of precision measuring instruments such as calipers or micrometers.

Experience with lathe, milling machine, drill press, grinders, hand power tools, micrometers, calipers, forklift, welding equipment, measuring tools and a variety of hand tools.

Ability to organize and prioritize task to ensure accuracy and timely completion.

Advanced computer skills and the ability to learn new job-related software.

Excellent attention to detail and accuracy required.

Effective interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.

Must be respectful and work well with all levels of personnel.

Must be able to perform on-call duty on any shift and work overtime on short notice basis. Long-term, temporary assignments to any shift may be required to maintain manufacturing processes.

Ability to work in high temperatures (hot or cold), working at heights and exposure to strong smells, dust, gases, fumes and chemical or require personal protective equipment.

Duties are performed with some exposure to noise, lubricants and chemicals.

May also work in areas that are confined, dusty and dirty or require personal protective equipment.

Ability to use Personal Protective Equipment.

Physical Requirements Physical aspects of the job as performed in an 8-hour workday.

Must be able to see, sit, stand, walk, speak, hear, reach, bend, twist, ascend/ descend.

Ability to pull, push, lift and carry up to 50 lbs., 50+ lbs. with assistance.
