Responsibilities
Provide a well‑stocked, well‑maintained department while providing superior customer service.
Prepare, package, and merchandise fresh product on a daily basis while maintaining all department and food safety / sanitation standards.
As a Food Service Representative, once eligible, you may become an Owner in the company; we look for commitment, hard work, and a focus on quality and Customer service.
Provide superior customer service, take orders by telephone or in person, answer customer questions, and assist with selections.
Use suggestive selling techniques and basic product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales.
Clean and sanitize display cases, operate and maintain equipment properly, and comply with H‑E‑B food safety and sanitation standards and department/store operating procedures.
Assist in technical areas as needed (e.g., basic set‑up and clean‑up processes).
Record production and shrink to aid in production planning.
Assist in technical areas such as baking, frying, decorating, and inventory management processes (MSI, PAW).
Create and maintain fresh production planner, use ordering system applications, and ensure catering orders are prepared on time.
Perform all sanitation and maintenance tasks for deli slicers.
Serve and package products at customers’ request, educate customers on preparation/reheating instructions of prepared foods, and pre‑package condiments for prepared food items.
Cut, slice, dice, chop food in preparation for chef.
Qualifications
Minimum age 18 (mandatory).
High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of Company Orientation, and food safety and sanitation training upon hire.
Knowledge of computer systems and equipment (PC, symbol, scales, label machine).
Strong customer service, communication, interpersonal, reading and writing, planning and organizing skills.
Ability to function in a fast‑paced, retail environment with detailed and precise tasks.
Working with customers and staying attentive to their needs.
Ability to lift 50 lbs (Bakery) or 55 lbs (Deli) and manage in excess of 70 lbs or 65 lbs respectively.
Physical Demands
Bakery : Constantly reach at waist, frequently stand/walk, occasionally sit or reach overhead, lift up to 50 lbs, manage 70+ lbs, frequent exposure to wet, cold, hot conditions and loud noise.
Deli : Constantly reach at waist, frequently stand/walk/stoop, occasionally reach overhead or knee, lift up to 55 lbs, manage 65+ lbs, frequent exposure to wet, cold, hot conditions and loud noise.
