Semi‑Skilled Laborer – Norristown State Hospital
The Department of Human Services, Norristown State Hospital is seeking a Semi‑Skilled Laborer to perform building and grounds upkeep, including repair of heating, plumbing, painting, electrical work, steamfitter assistance, roadwork, groundskeeping, cleaning, and snow removal.
Description of Work As a Semi‑Skilled Laborer, you will be responsible for performing a wide range of maintenance tasks. Duties include working on various maintenance projects such as repairing heating and plumbing systems, painting, electrical work, assisting steamfitters in the boiler plant, performing roadwork repair and groundskeeping duties, maintaining laundry equipment, clearing snow from sidewalks and parking lots, and cleaning various systems and areas around the hospital. Work Schedule and Additional Information
Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
Work hours are 2:00 PM to 10:00 PM, Monday – Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch (may change based on operational needs).
Travel and overtime as operationally necessary.
Telework: No option to telework.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non‑negotiable.
FREE parking.

Qualifications
Minimum one year of laboring work experience with tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.
Condition of Employment
Valid PA non‑commercial Class C driver’s license or equivalent.
Other Requirements
Must meet the PA residency requirement.
Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Legal Requirements
You must pass a background investigation.
A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
Under the Act, a conditional offer will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to PA State Police and FBI clearance.
