Location: New Kent, VA 23124 | Pay: $15.00/hour

Job Summary Sells and cashes wagering vouchers for guests at self-serve terminals.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

Provide next-level guest service to internal and external guests.

Foster an environment of support and motivation for team members.

Maintain confidentiality of all privileged information.

Operate under strict rules and regulations of the Virginia Racing Commission and Colonial Downs Group.

Run for a mutuel window, providing courteous service and ethical standards; refrain from personal wagering.

Use teller terminal (ticket issuing machine) with a money drawer.

Accept wagers and issue mutuel tickets accurately.

Cash winning tickets, determining validity and value.

Handle money for ticket issuance, cashing, drawers, and returns; cover any shortages.

Monitor guests to prevent minors from wagering.

Triage guest complaints to supervisor.

Resolve problems within scope of authority; recommend solutions for issues beyond scope.

Keep supervisor informed of relevant activities.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Skills And Abilities

Friendly, professional, efficient service in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment.

Clear verbal communication explaining wagering options, payouts, and procedures.

Remain calm, courteous, and accurate during high-volume racing periods.

Accurately handle large volumes of cash, tickets, and vouchers.

Strong attention to detail for precise ticket issuance, payouts, and change-making.

Balance drawer and complete end-of-shift reconciliations with minimal discrepancies.

Basic math skills: addition, subtraction, quick mental calculations.

Read, interpret, and process pari-mutuel wagers and odds.

Comfort using computerized wagering terminals, ticket scanners, and POS systems.

Dependable attendance and punctuality; available to work days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Education And Experience

High school diploma or GED required.

Prior cash-handling, customer service, or retail experience preferred.

Experience working in a fast-paced, guest-facing environment preferred.

Basic computer skills and ability to learn pari-mutuel wagering systems and terminals.

Ability to obtain and maintain Virginia Racing Commission racing license required.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

Stand or sit for extended periods during assigned shifts.

Handle repetitive hand and wrist movements associated with ticketing and cash handling.

Work in environments that may include noise, crowds, secondhand smoke, and varying temperatures depending on the assigned station and guest volume.

Work long hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
