Training and Development Assistant performs entry-level training work, maintains refresher training records, coordinates training locations for refresher and specialty classes, presents courses during new employee orientation and refresher sessions to ensure compliance with minimum training requirements, assists in curriculum development and preparation of training materials, and may have other duties as assigned. Works under close supervision with minimal latitude for initiative and independent judgment. Prefer experience working directly with a developmentally disabled population. Attend and may be required to work a specific shift schedule or rotating schedule, extended shift, and/or overtime in accordance with agency policy. Conduct facility training including new employee orientation, refresher training, and continuing education using approved training curriculum and procedures; assist by teaching SUR/UKERU, CPR, ANE, and Van Driving; prefer experience as a platform trainer or teaching experience; curriculum development; able to lift, bend, stoop, kneel, and extend limbs. Perform complex file management; manage incoming paperwork, filing, copying, and storage. Maintain employee training record data (e.g., posting completed training into TIMS, running training data reports, entering training assignments, maintaining files); operate standard office equipment and software. Support disaster response/COOP activation as required; may involve alternate shift pattern or location. Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSAs)
Experience working with persons with developmental disabilities. Knowledge of training procedures, adult education principles, group dynamics, instructional/curriculum design, and related program areas. Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule (primary 8AM-5PM; may include nights, weekends, or additional time). Ability to teach adults and to handle multiple projects; ability to teach and demonstrate CPR, SUR, Ukeru, lifting, etc. Preference for certified instructors. Proficiency with Windows-based programs (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Ability to work in teams and independently; physical ability to squat, bend, stoop, kneel, stand, and lift at least 15 lbs. Ability to formulate and evaluate learning objectives and deliver effective training; strong relationship-building skills. Skill in creating/editing video productions and training materials; proficiency with office equipment, audio-visual setup; and use of spreadsheets and databases. Must possess valid Texas driver’s license. Initial Screening Criteria
Experience in training work and file management. Experience using MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). High School diploma or equivalent. Additional Information
Applicants must pass fingerprint background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks (CANRS, Nurse Aide, Medication Aide, Employee Misconduct, LEIE). Males 18–25 must be registered with Selective Service. All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
