Production Loan Assistant By emphasizing ONE Park, ONE Mission, One Team, the Production Loan Assistant supports the credit union by assisting loan originators with processing consumer, mortgage, and commercial loan applications. This role involves collecting and verifying required documentation, communicating timelines and updates to members and originators, and ensuring compliance with policies and regulations. The Production Loan Assistant maintains accurate records, provides status updates to management, and supports pipeline management to ensure a smooth and efficient loan process. Additionally, this role includes offering suggestions for process improvements, assisting with disclosures and rate locks, and handling other assigned tasks to enhance operational efficiency and member satisfaction.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

Assist loan originators in the application process for consumer, mortgage, and commercial lending, provide accurate information on documentation required, communicate processing timelines to originator. Serve as the main point of contact for members during the loan application process; provide clear and timely communication to members regarding their application status, required documentation, and next steps; address and resolve member inquiries and concerns promptly and professionally. Verify information submitted with the application file; work directly with the loan originator and underwriting for approval; request additional documentation needed such as payoffs, titles, income verification; follow through to loan decision and closing, if applicable. Assist origination with appropriate disclosures and rate locks per policies and regulations. Perform initial and continued contact with specified companies to obtain property abstracts, surveys, title, and appraisals. Provide ongoing updates to originator and borrower regarding the status of the loan application.

Proactively manage the pipeline and give status updates to the manager upon request. Follow up on originator files, including pre-approvals and pending decisions. Prepare and mail/email approvals and/or denial letters to applicants, as needed.

Keep the manager updated on the status of loans in process and inform them of any issues or concerns. Offer suggestions for improvements and provide reports as scheduled or upon request.

Maintain knowledge of rules, policies and procedures governing all classes of loan to ensure credit union compliance and limit risk.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Provide informed, professional, and accurate service and support to all members (internal and external).

To produce loan documents and reports in a timely fashion, with zero errors.

To prepare file for underwriting within 1 day of receipt.

To close, organize, and complete member loan files within defined expectations per loan type.

To return all calls within 2 hours of receipt and return all email inquiries by the end of the business day.

To cross sell credit union products and services.

To maintain working knowledge of all loan products and rates, both within the credit union and from the industry overall.

To follow the credit union’s Bank Secrecy Act and anti-money laundering policies and procedures, including running OFAC searches, completing investigative reports of suspicious activity and currency transaction reports timely and without error.

To maintain a professional work environment, promote teamwork, build respect among coworkers and present a businesslike appearance.

To follow all security policies and procedures and report discrepancies or suspicious activity to manager immediately.

Knowledge and Skills Experience Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education (1) A two‑year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job‑specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first‑level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills Must have effective communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Ten key calculator, typewriter, and keyboard skills.
