This is a key role within the Central Sterile Services Department (CSSD) where you will be responsible for all aspects of decontamination science duties in providing a specialised decontamination of medical devices service contributing to the clinical care of the patient - to carry out the receipt, disassembly, cleaning, reassembly, packing and sterilisation of reusable medical devices and record all tasks in the tracking and tracing database.
The post holder will undertake all on the job training as deemed necessary for them to carry out their duties within the department in a safe manner.
The post holder will be expected to work as part of a team and to communicate effectively.
The post is a shift pattern covering 24/7 service.

Main duties of the job General
To inspect the cleanliness/correctness of equipment together with checking the items for durability.
To participate in the packing of surgical instruments, soft packs and comprehensive theatre packs.
Learning about the safety and operational aspects of machinery used in the departments.
Any other duties deemed reasonable.
Communication and team relationships
To participate in regular reviews of your own training programme in line with the development of departmental services.
To identify problems that occurs within CSSD and bring them to the attention of a supervisor.
Attend training sessions and updates that are laid on for departmental staff.
To seek advice and guidance from seniors as required.
Attend all staff meetings.
Planning and organisation
To carry out the daily tests on the department's machinery.
To check and safely use the heat‑sealing machine.
To participate in decontamination, packing and sterilisation of contaminated times that arrive in the department.
To achieve completion of the department's competences that have been drawn up.
To be committed to continuous self‑development.
