Imaging Technologist (Healthcare) utilizes imaging equipment (x-ray, MRI) to conduct radiological diagnostic procedures. Creates and maintains records and files as directed. Performs tasks related to the application and removal of orthopedic casts and splints as directed by a physician. Sheridan Schedule

Operate computer and radiographic equipment to make radiographs of designated portions of the body, under the supervision of Radiologist. Perform quality control measures to ensure optimal quality images on X-Ray and MRI. Prepare patients for radiographic procedures by accurately assessing needs and providing patient education. Record notations in the Patient Information System and/or patient file. Prepare and maintain records and files as directed, store and maintain films according to department policy and procedures. Prepare patient films for interpretation by radiologist. Practice safety in radiography and environment of care. Maintain and test equipment to ensure proper functionality. Assist physicians with orthopedic casting procedures, including the application and removal of casts and splints. Prepare and position patients for casting procedures. Instruct patients in cast care, wound care, swelling, and how to remove/apply splints. Perform routine examinations and treatment procedures, including removing casts, cleaning wounds and applying medications and dressings. Perform MRI on open extremity and 1.5 Tesla systems. Maintain patient confidentiality. Cross-train in other clinical areas to assist in rooming patients, scheduling appointments, and supporting physicians/providers. Attend CE courses, OSHA training, and regular staff meetings. Perform duties as requested by Supervisor. Requirements and Qualifications
AAS Radiologic Technician Current ARRT certification required and licensed in NYS. 2-3 years clinical experience with MRI experience preferred. Exceptional organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills. Physical Demands
Frequent sitting, standing, walking, grasping, carrying, and speaking. Occasional reaching, bending, and stooping. Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds with assistance if needed. May need to lift or turn patients who are disabled with assistance if needed. Frequent use of computer, keyboard, copier and fax machine, and phone. Benefits
