Assistant Football Coach (Creative Design)
Under the supervision of the Head Football Coach, the Assistant Football Coach supports the management and administration of Simpson University’s football program. The Assistant Coach demonstrates leadership aligned with Simpson University’s mission and values. Key responsibilities include recruiting, retaining quality student‑athletes, and effectively teaching, leading, and inspiring them.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree required; master’s degree preferred.
1‑3 years of successful collegiate coaching and recruiting experience.
Strong Christian role model with ability to mentor and support students’ spiritual development.
Ability to integrate faith into teaching, coaching, and team culture.
Proven ability to develop and execute an effective recruiting and retention strategy aligned with Simpson University’s mission.
Clear plan for academic accountability and student‑athlete success.
Strong written and interpersonal communication skills.
Knowledge of NAIA rules and ability to build a competitive program.
Ability to plan, teach, organize, and run efficient practices.
Collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills.
Proficient in technology, spreadsheets, and Microsoft Office.
Self‑motivated, well‑organized, and detail‑oriented.
Essential Functions
Recruiting, including calling prospective student‑athletes, evaluating high school and junior college players, and maintaining an accurate database.
Coaching a position group.
Prepare plans for personalized instruction during in‑season, off‑season, and summer activities.
Ensure compliance with national, conference, and institutional rules.
Assist in implementing the academic program and ensuring academic eligibility.
Perform other duties as assigned by Head Coach or Athletic Director.
Physical Requirements Outdoors in hot, cold, and rainy conditions during practices, games, and events. Indoors in office or gym. Requires standing for long periods, lifting moving practice equipment, and exercising on uneven or slippery surfaces. Must use computer equipment such as a computer, scanner, copier, mouse, keyboard, and practice field equipment.
Compensation Salary: $70,304.00
