The Ohio State University invites applications for the position of Academic Advisor 2 at the Mansfield campus. This role is focused on promoting student success by implementing proactive strategies that help students stay on track to achieve their educational goals. The position involves assisting students from a variety of backgrounds in selecting courses that align with their evolving academic and career interests. Additionally, the role includes educating students on university policies and procedures, as well as program and degree requirements across multiple schools/colleges, with special focus on business-related majors.
Furthermore, the role supports students in navigating the university environment and making referrals to various university offices that enhance the student experience, including academic, career, financial, and psychological resources.
Additional responsibilities include participating in student orientation programs and recruitment activities to support undergraduate program engagement and enrollment. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently while possessing a collaborative approach to student support services.
Minimum Qualifications:
Masters degree or equivalent (2 years) combination of education and experience
No relevant experience required
Able to clearly explain complex program requirements to various audiences, including students, parents, faculty, and community members
Effective communication (oral and written) and problem‑solving skills
Strong attention to detail with ability to balance multiple priorities and maintain confidential information
Preferred Qualifications:
1-2+ years of relevant experience
Understands and follows FERPA guidelines
Familiarity with Ohio State systems and processes
Knowledge of Student Information System (SIS), Microsoft Office, and OnCourse
