About the Program The U.S. Apprenticeship Program offers a 2‑3 year apprenticeship in a technical discipline combined with a community‑college Associate’s degree. Apprentices receive paid tuition, wages, and benefits. Successful completion leads to consideration for a full‑time role and a commitment to work for Dow for 2 years upon receiving a full‑time offer.
The hourly rate for this role is at least $25.38. The expected hire date is June 8 2026, but it may extend to August 3 2026 at the latest.
Responsibilities Apprenticeship opportunities are available in:
Process Technician (both Plaquemine and Hahnville sites)
Primary responsibilities:
Routine operation of basic control systems and devices to monitor levels, temperatures, pressures, and flow rates, and transfer of products.
Control, monitor and adjust all control systems and manually operated equipment.
Lifting hoses, bolt flanges, operating valves and similar equipment, including clearing and isolation of equipment.
Follow operating discipline, procedures, and practices for safe and efficient operation.
Troubleshoot process, product quality, safety, and environmental problems, and identify equipment requiring maintenance.
Perform maintenance and project work safely and efficiently.
Clear and tag equipment as required and issue Safe Work Permits.
Perform all duties with a high degree of dedication to safety and environmental stewardship.
Qualifications Educational Requirements
Minimum of a High School Diploma or GED.
Current enrollment in high school or college or recent graduate/ GED within the last two years must provide official transcripts/GED scores before onsite interview.
Completion of Algebra or Technical Math and Science coursework required; Chemistry and/or Physics preferred.
If already enrolled in the degree program or have transferable credits, must have at least two full semesters remaining.
Must complete college entrance exams/assessments at the community college prior to hire; no remedial or transitional coursework required.
Preferred: GPA of 2.5 or higher for enrolled applicants or recent graduates.
Additional Requirements
Age 18 or older on start date.
Valid U.S. driver’s license (or ability to obtain before start); Motor Vehicle Records check required.
Must possess a TWIC card or be eligible to obtain one.
Willing to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime.
Ability to work legally in the United States; no visa sponsorship available.
Preferred Skills
Active learning with strong willingness to train.
Time management to meet production schedules.
Enthusiasm for learning and continuous improvement.
Problem‑solving and troubleshooting of process and safety issues.
Mechanical aptitude in handling equipment and maintenance.
Commitment to environmental health and safety.

Physical Demands
Lift 50 lb and operate valves and similar equipment routinely.
Climb ladders/stairs and work at heights.
Work in tight or closed spaces.
Wearing PPE, including harnesses up to 300 lb.
Ability to use safety equipment for operations at heights.
