Instructor/Assistant Professor of Business (Accounting Emphasis) - Tenure Track

Job Summary Provide high quality and engaging instruction in first- and second-year courses in Business Management/Business Administration for the Associate of Science and Associate of Applied Science programs. Teaching load may include Accounting I & II, First Year Seminar, Introduction to Business, Business Math, Small Business Practices, Computer Information Systems, and/or International Business. This position also will teach junior- and senior-level courses in the Bachelor of Applied Science: Professional Studies program, including Personal Finance, Management and Organizations, Introduction to Marketing, and Business Ethics. Position typically requires a teaching load of the equivalent of 30 credits/year (15 credits/semester). Priority is on excellent teaching, including in‑person and online instruction, advising, assessment, service, student recruitment, curriculum development, articulation with high school and university faculty, and professional development activities.
Responsibilities
Provide high quality, engaging instruction.
Assist in the ongoing development and assessment of curriculum.
Contribute to delivery of instruction using distance delivery methods.
Develop course syllabi for assigned courses and use effective varied instruction techniques that promote learning and address student achievement of expected learning outcomes.
Evaluate student performance and achievement of course, program, and all‑college student learning outcomes.
Recommend appropriate texts and teaching aids.
Assist with academic advising and related activities, including: advising students and supporting students in program‑related activities; posting and observing office hours; advising and assisting students during the ongoing registration process.
Serve on college committees as requested, elected or assigned.
Contribute to program, division, and department meetings.
Maintain a high level of content knowledge and engage in ongoing professional development in the field and teaching.
Maintain state‑of‑the‑art knowledge and competence in the appropriate academic disciplines.
Demonstrate mutual respect and civility and coordinate activities to promote the highest level of student learning and productive working relationships.
Contribute to positive program articulations with schools and colleges; contribute to the college‑wide assessment of student learning outcomes; actively participate in maintaining standards required for accreditation.
Assist others on an as‑needed basis; participate in college activities.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Training and Experience
Master’s degree in Business with an Accounting concentration or a Master’s degree in Accounting with 18 graduate‑level credits in Business Administration.
Evidence of successful teaching/training experience.
Evidence of knowledge of business practices.
Experience teaching accounting or two years in the accounting field.
Proficiency in computer applications.
Proficiency in written, oral, and interpersonal communication.
Experience in promoting learning in and out of the classroom.
Skill in developing rapport with students.
Demonstrated willingness to participate in a collaborative team approach to education.
Demonstrated commitment to assessment of student academic achievement.
Commitment to continued professional development.
Preferred Training & Experience
College teaching experience.
CPA certification.
Working knowledge of GAAP.
Computer networking or computer systems knowledge.
Business management experience.
Experience delivering distance education, hybrid, and/or online classes.
Demonstrated understanding and commitment to the community college mission.
Advising and student support experience.
Licensing Requirements Successful applicant will be required to pass an acceptable criminal background check.
