What You’ll Do (Key Duties and Responsibilities)
Prepare delicious, nutritious meals that meet dietary needs and have a smile in every bite.
Bake breads, rolls, and pastries that brighten mornings and dinner tables alike.
Plan and cook a variety of menu items; adapt with care to special dietary requests.
Serve meals with warmth, efficiency, and genuine hospitality to residents, guests, employees, and visitors.
Keep cookware, utensils, and kitchen equipment spotless and ready for action.
Collaborate on meal planning, menus, and pricing with the team.
Maintain clean, functional galley spaces and reliable kitchen systems.
Bring a can-do attitude to any related duties and volunteer opportunities that pop up.
Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or vocational coursework in kitchen basics (food safety preferred).
Experience: 1+ year of cooking or kitchen experience.
Certifications: Background checks and drug screening required; valid driver’s license and ability to meet vehicle insurance requirements per BHS policy.
Skills:
Strong communication, both verbal and written.
Solid understanding of sanitation and safety; ability to learn local health regulations.
Proficient food handling, preparation, and cooking skills.
Ability to work quickly, accurately, and calmly under pressure.
A team player with reliable attendance and a collaborative, friendly demeanor.
Personal cleanliness and professional presentation.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to kneel, stand, lift up to 40 lbs occasionally and up to 10 lbs frequently, reach, bend, and perform repetitive motions.
Good vision and hearing; able to perform essential job functions with reasonable accommodations as needed.
Environmental Conditions:
Indoor kitchen environment with moderate noise.
