Custodian – Oceanside Unified School District
Under the direction of an assigned supervisor, maintain clean, sanitary, safe, and orderly assigned buildings and facilities for students, staff, and the public by performing a variety of cleaning and custodial duties; secure rooms and buildings; and perform special cleaning and building maintenance periodically.
Qualifications
High school graduation and, preferably, prior experience in cleaning and operating similar equipment.
Knowledge of proper methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.
Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to cleaning methods, practices, procedures, and equipment.
Proper use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
Understanding of district and site policies, procedures, and objectives of the assigned program and activities.
Record‑keeping techniques.
Oral and written communication skills.
Basic computer skills.
Proper lifting techniques.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
Ability to perform heavy manual labor.
Ability to work without immediate supervision.
Efficient and effective use of cleaning materials, supplies, and equipment.
Ability to operate custodial equipment and tools.
Maintain work pace and accuracy to meet schedules and timelines.
Ability to learn and perform record‑keeping techniques.
Follow oral and written instructions accurately.
Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
Read, interpret, and follow rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Communicate with diverse groups and individuals.
