General knowledge of molecular biology and cell biology; strong background in integrated physiology, diabetes and/or neuroscience; experience with animal research.

Job Summary This postdoc position will directly report to Dr. Cai in the Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine. The candidate will conduct studies on a NIH‑funded project that investigates how astrocytes modulate dopaminergic neural circuits in response to chronic mild stress. Responsibilities include designing and executing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, performing statistical analysis, writing and submitting manuscripts, training and overseeing laboratory students and technicians, and assisting with grant proposals. The candidate will also attend and present at seminars and journal clubs.

Skills / Knowledge / Abilities

Proficiency with MS Windows and Microsoft Office

Basic knowledge of biostatistics

Expertise in bioinformatics analysis preferred

Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions

Preferred Education / Experience

Additional techniques such as electrophysiology, in vivo imaging, etc.

Other Requirements

Physical Requirements:

Occasional repetitive motion; sitting and/or standing for long periods

Shift:

Monday – Friday 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.; some weekends required

No supervisory responsibilities.
