Core-Mark Driver Helper
Start Pay: $15.50 an hour
Shift: Monday – Friday with a 4:00 AM start time.
Position Purpose Food and food service delivery drivers fulfill a critical role in the country’s food supply chain. Our delivery drivers not only make sure the customers’ products arrive at their destination at the arranged times and in good condition, but they are the face of our company – building lasting relationships with our customers! As a Driver Helper, you will assist the Driver in every aspect of the product delivery to our customers.
Primary Responsibilities
The Driver Helper rides with and assists Drivers in the tractor trailer, tandem trailer and/or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading various products in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations.
Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner.
Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company.
Additional Responsibilities
Assists the Driver in the safe and accurate delivery of products to customers in a timely and efficient manner.
Loads and unloads truck and/or company vehicles.
Places products in areas identified by customers.
Completes required documentation in a timely manner.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
1-3 years of related experience.
Ability to communicate effectively and apply general math skills.
Ability to work reliably from verbal and written instructions.
Intermediate computer knowledge and ability to learn/use computer programs on the job.
Ability to obtain certifications for use of powered equipment; such as forklift operation.
Physical Demands & Working Conditions
Regularly lift, carry, and position up to 10 lbs; frequently up to 25 lbs; occasionally up to 60 lbs.
Stand for a significant period of time and walk continuously.
Occasionally bend, kneel, crouch, climb, reach, or crawl.
May require the ability to operate and/or be certified on various powered equipment.
Work in a warehouse environment exposed to noise and temperature extremes.
